CYBER BULLYING IN THE PHILIPPINES
In a survey conducted by www.stopcyberbullying.org, victims of online bullying responded in the following ways:
36% asked the bully to stop
34% blocked communication
29% did nothing about the bullying
only 11% talked to their parents about cyber bullying incidents
As a result, cyber bullying can also affect school life as more victims skip school to avoid facing the emotional and psychological effects of online bullying in real life. Roughly 160,000 students skip school nationally out of fear of facing the bully who has traumatized them to the extent that they are even scared to tell anyone.
Cyberbullying in the Philippines is becoming a more and more serious matter. In fact, according to Google trends, the Philippines is the fourth highest searching country for cyber bullying; showing that so many people are trying to look for help.
More teens are being bullied. Less people know what it is or what to do. We want to help both.
